The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association has announced that registration is now open for the 2025 Fall/Winter Community League (ages 7–18) and the Jr. NBA Skills Development program (ages 5–12). Families are encouraged to register early to secure their preferred Community Centre and program placement, as spots are expected to fill quickly.
The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association is seeking individuals (ages 18 and above) to work as Gym Supervisors with the League. Responsibilities include setting up and closing the gym on game days, transporting game-day equipment to and from the gym, and ensuring the day runs smoothly and safely according to League rules.
Games are played throughout Winnipeg on Saturdays and Sundays, year-round. The rate of pay is $16-$18 per hour, depending upon qualifications and experience. Employees must be available to work most weekends, have knowledge of basketball and have access to a vehicle. There is the potential to work 20 hours per weekend.

The league has brought together young athletes eager to develop their skills and build confidence in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) has announced that the 2025 edition of the WMBA x ELEVATE 3x3 Youth Summer League officially tips off this week, with opening skill sessions beginning Tuesday, July 8 and league games starting Wednesday, July 9.
Now in full swing, the summer league features over 200 players ages 8 to 17 from across Winnipeg. Each player will take part in weekly skill development sessions led by university and pro athletes, followed by high-rep 3x3 games every Wednesday evening. The league is built on a player-first model emphasizing more touches, faster play, and higher basketball IQ through the internationally recognized FIBA 3x3 format.
All games are hosted at high-quality outdoor basketball courts constructed by the WMBA Foundation in partnership with six local community centres across the city. These courts are purpose-built to support grassroots development and make the game more accessible.

The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) has announced several significant updates following the successful hosting of its 2025 Annual General Meeting—an evening dedicated to reflecting on the past season, recognizing key contributors, and looking ahead to the continued growth of youth basketball in Winnipeg.
Highlights from the evening included the appointment of Tanya Cartwright as the new WMBA President and Carrissa Reyes as Vice President of Operations. The organization also welcomed two new members to its Board of Directors.
The WMBA recognized excellence in coaching by naming Tom Weselak as the 2025 Coach of the Year. In addition, the association awarded scholarships to two outstanding student-athletes: Simrit Kaler and Andrew Chammartin.
A major highlight of the AGM was the induction of six individuals into the WMBA Hall of Fame for their exceptional contributions to the basketball community. This year’s inductees are:

- Larry Kabez
- The late Dale Gamey (accepted by his son, Jay Gamey)
- Adam Wedlake
- Mike Ruta
