Following a successful playing career at the high school (Oak Park) and university levels, which culminated in being selected to the Manitoba Provincial Teams, named a conference All-Star with the Manitoba Bisons, played one year with the Brandon Bobcats, and then playing semi-professional basketball in the Philippines.  Lenin's journey from being a successful player to becoming a dedicated coach showcases his deep passion for basketball and commitment to passing on his knowledge and love for the game to others.  Starting from coaching the JV Boys Basketball team at Elmwood High School in 2001, he has steadily progressed through various coaching positions, significantly impacting each step.

His tenure coaching junior high, high school, and club basketball teams has been marked by remarkable achievements, including multiple City and Provincial Championships.  Lenin's collaboration with Coach Larry Marquardson at Sargent Park School underscores his ability to work effectively within a coaching team, leveraging each other's strengths to bring out the best in their players.

Furthermore, his involvement with Winnipeg Hotshots, Attack Basketball, the Filipino-Canadian National team, and the Manitoba Provincial Team demonstrates his coaching prowess at the representative level, guiding talented young players to compete at a high standard.

Currently serving as a Principal at Glenelm School, Lenin continues to intertwine his passion for basketball with his professional responsibilities, actively coaching the game to his students and engaging with the Filipino community, thereby enriching the lives of those he interacts with both on and off the court.  















Paulo had a successful playing career at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. He was a member of the University of Manitoba Bisons (1996) and was selected to the Manitoba Provincial Team (1992-93) and the Canada Summer Games (1993).

Paulo turned his passion for playing the game towards instilling a love of basketball in his athletes. He began his coaching career in 2003, coaching the JV Boys Basketball team at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. He has since worked tirelessly towards achieving this goal by continuing to mentor and coach athletes in various schools in Manitoba (General Wolfe, Sargent Park, Sisler).

Paulo has served as an assistant coach for the Manitoba Provincial Team in 2021, 2022 and now in 2024.

Paulo graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Education degree. Paulo is currently a high school physical education teacher at Sisler High School and currently coaching the Junior Varsity Boys basketball team and heads the men’s program at Sisler High School.  










 


With over 15 years of experience coaching school and club basketball teams in Manitoba, Keith is a dedicated coach, committed to growing the sport. More than generous with his time, Mason has travelled to Indigenous communities across Manitoba to not only mentor aboriginal youth but also help them to develop their basketball skills.

He has been actively involved in the Anishinabe Pride Basketball program, which helps introduce young aboriginal players to basketball, and has also coached at several North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) events.

Over the last few years, Mason has been actively building up his coach education through the NCCP and other local coaching opportunities. Basketball Manitoba first met Keith when he was still in high school as part of a career internship program. 



Alyssa Cox (Grant) has been involved in basketball as a player and coach for over 15 years. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 2015 with a Bachelor of Education and a major in Kinesiology and Applied Health. She is currently pursuing a master’s in Kinesiology and Recreation through the University of Manitoba, focusing on coaching and youth sport participation.
 
While attending university, Alyssa played five years of basketball for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen. When her playing career ended, Alyssa continued to be involved in basketball through coaching. She spent four years working with Basketball Manitoba as a Center for Performance program coach. In 2015 she was the head coach for the U15 Female Provincial Team and then moved on to coach the U17 team in 2016 and 2017, culminating in a bronze medal finish at the 2017 Canada Summer Games held in Winnipeg.
 
Alyssa is currently teaching at Shaftesbury High School, where she coaches the junior varsity girls basketball team. She continues to be an assistant coach with the University of Winnipeg and looks forward to another appearance at the Canada Games this summer.


Evan has been coaching at Sturgeon Heights Collegiate since 2010, serving as head coach of the JV Boys team for eight years. In that time, he led teams to four conference championships, won three times, and made three provincial championships, winning in 2016 and 2018. 

Through 2015-17, Evan additionally worked as an assistant coach with the Sturgeon Heights varsity girls' team and became the head coach in 2018. In two seasons as the girl’s head coach, the team has made the AAAA Provincial Final Four in both years and the Provincial Finals in 2019. 

Evan received the MHSAA JV Boys ‘AAAA’ Coach of the Year award in 2016 and 2018 and the 2018 MHSAA High School Male High School Coach of the Year award. 

Evan was the assistant coach with the 17U Female Provincial Team in 2021 and again in 2022 at the Canada Summer Games at the 18U level. He is also currently serving as an assistant coach with the University of Winnipeg. 











Clarence has been involved with basketball in Manitoba for over 30 years as a player and a coach. In addition, Clarence has been serving as a Director on the WMBA Board for the past four years.

Clarence was a member of three Manitoba Provincial teams in the 1990s and a member of the Junior National Basketball team in 1994. Clarence went on to play five years of collegiate basketball for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen and the University of Manitoba Bisons. 

Clarence has coached all age levels (5-17) of basketball in the province, including the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) league and the club basketball league. In 2021, Clarence was the assistant coach with the 15U Male Provincial Team. 

Clarence has a passion for teaching the game of basketball, and it has provided the opportunity to give back to the game and community, giving him many precious memories.




Claire Harvey is a graduate of Fort Richmond Collegiate, where she played on the basketball team for three years. She was also an active participant in the Manitoba Provincial Team program during this time. Claire went on to play for the University of Manitoba Bisons from 2013 to 2019, where she became a positive leader for her teammates and was named MVP in her senior year. Claire holds the record for all-time career blocks for the Bison’s, and she finished her career in the top 20 all-time for Canada West conference career blocks. Claire has continued to be involved in competitive basketball, including competing in the first-ever Women’s 3x3 Canada Quest Championship and participating in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) league.

While playing for the Bison’s, Claire dedicated her time to coaching the next generation of basketball players. She coached in the Junior Bisons Basketball Program, spending two years as an assistant coach and three years as a head coach. 

Claire coached many camps, including the Junior Bisons, Basketball Manitoba High-Performance Summer Camps and Prairie Elite Basketball Academy. She also served as an assistant coach with the 15U Female Provincial Team in 2019 and 2021. Claire is also currently one of the head coaches for the 17U Targeted Athlete Program (TAP) program.



Charles has been coaching basketball in Manitoba for the past 25 years. He is the founder and director of Ignite Basketball Canada.

Coaching athletes from ages 5 to 21, Charles received several awards, including the North Central Region Coach of the Year with Providence University College, the WMBA Bruce Russell Memorial Coach of the Year and the Basketball Manitoba Jr. High Girls Coach of the Year award. He was a head coach for the North American Indigenous Games, head coach at Arthur A. Leach for eight years, and coach for Tec Voc High School. He also coached his daughter’s Grade 8 Arthur A. Leach team to a Jr. High Provincial Championship.

Charles competed for Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute as a player, becoming an ‘AAAA’ Provincial Champion. Charles played post-secondary basketball at Providence University College and toured India and the Philippines with the Athletes in Action USA Basketball Team.

Charles values the multi-sport athlete and competed in tackle football as a Winnipeg Hawkeye and a Provincial Team Handball player. For over seven years, Charles volunteered to coach youth tackle football and flag football. He currently works at Tec Voc High School. 




Alan has been involved with basketball in Winnipeg for many years. He has coached in many programs, including the J.H Bruns Collegiate Varsity Boys, Dakota Collegiate Varsity Boys, Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association, She Can Play Program and Junior Wesmen club teams. Alan is currently the Head Coach of the 2004 Ignite Basketball Canada Boys club team and has been since 2018. 

Alan’s introduction to basketball began when he started playing with the Winnipeg Selects Basketball Club. It led to Alan playing for the Dakota Lancers and grew his interest in staying involved as a coach. 




C.J. has been coaching basketball for the past twelve years. He is an assistant coach for the 2005 Ignite Boys club team and a director of the Ignite Canada Basketball program. Currently, he is the head coach of the St. Maurice Junior Varsity Girls team. 

C.J. first started coaching in the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association with the Garden City and South Winnipeg community centre teams. In 2016, he coached the 2005 Ignite Boys club team and five different teams for St. Maurice School. Over this time, he has coached teams to four league championships and brought three top-8 seeded school teams to provincials.




Ranked the number one female player in the province coming out of Sisler High School, Kerri Kuzbyt continued her success when she went on to play five years for the University of Winnipeg. During her time with the Wesmen, Kerri earned the starting position in her Rookie year, which eventually led her to be named the University’s Female Rookie of the Year. She was a three-year co-captain, and in her fifth and final year, she won the Canada West regular-season title and ended her CIS/USport career with a Canada-West Bronze medal. While succeeding on the court, Kerri also maintained an Academic All-Canadian status for the entirety of her degree. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education.

Kerri further prolonged her career when she took her game overseas professionally to Australia and Spain before finding her home in Germany’s 2nd Bundesliga for two years. In her first year, Kerri finished sixth in the league in points per game (13.1) and second, in three-pointers made (31 in 15 games), all while leading her club to a league-leading 14-2 record, and eventually the league title. Although her final season was cut short due to the Pandemic, Kerri was excited to start her next greatest chapter; helping the next generation of females wanting to play at the highest level and live out their dream as she did.

Since finishing her playing career in 2021, Kerri has headed up the female player development program at Atlas Basketball. But she also has given back to the game at the community, club, and high school levels and been a part of Wesmen Summer Basketball camps and High-Performance Camps. 

Kerri has been involved with the Manitoba Provincial Team on several occasions. From 2008 to 2011, she played and represented the province as an athlete. In 2014, Kerri was the assistant coach for the 17U Female Provincial Team that won a gold medal. She was also the assistant coach for the 17U Female Manitoba Provincial Team in 2018.




Matthew has been involved in basketball as a player and coach for many years and played for the Red River Rebels for two seasons. As a coach, Matthew was the head varsity boys coach with the MBCI Hawks and an assistant coach at Red River College. He is currently the assistant coach with the University of Winnipeg men's basketball team. 

Matthew is also a Pure Sweat Licensed Skills Coach and works with athletes of all ages through the Atlas Basketball program.


Dan Becker has been an active player and coach for over 30 years at all levels of the basketball.  As a coach, Dan has worked with players from grassroots community club teams to the CIS.  In 2014, he led 17U Team Manitoba to its first ever Gold Medal in the male division at the Canadian National Championships. 10 Years earlier he also led the 17U men to Bronze Medal at the 2004 National Championships.  Dan has also coached in the Canada Games and the Western Canada Games, bringing home a Silver Medal at the 15U age division in 2003 of the WCG.  From 2005 to 2010 Dan coached with Randy Kusano and the Oak Park Raiders Varsity Boy's Program winning two Provincial Championships and making five consecutive Final Four appearances.  Dan assisted at the CIS men's level from 2000 to 2004 and then assumed the interim head coaching duties during the 2004-05 with the University of Manitoba Men's Program.  In 2004, Dan started coaching in the Canada Basketball Centre for Performance Program, a program he now leads as its head coach.
