NBA Canada has announced their NBA Campus Tour, presented by the Air Miles Reward Program will be in Winnipeg on Friday September 9 at the University of Manitoba Campus.  They invite you to 'Shoot Some Hoops' at the University of Manitoba (in front of the Fitzgerald / Pharmacy building) on Friday, September 9 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Meet NBA Legend Antonio Davis from 4:00 - 5:00 pm and get a glimpse of the Larry O’Brien trophy!

Antonio Davis had 13 seasons in the NBA, suiting up for the Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors.  Read more...




For the first time in its 65 year history, the NBA All-Star Game will be played outside of the US in Toronto, Ontario.  One of the biggest basketball events to ever be staged in Canada will see the who's who of the basketball world in Toronto over the February 11-14 weekend.  Most of the basketball events will be televised on NBA TV, ESPN and TNT with all being picked up in Canada by NBA TV Canada, TSN and Sportsnet.  Below is a full schedule of the weekend's festivities...

National Basketball Players' Association Community Court Dedication

Canada Basketball is pleased to participate in the National Basketball Players Association Foundation's court dedication at Masaryk Community Center. Canada Basketball's Michele O'Keefe and Rowan Barrett will attend, along with Sim Bhullar. More information on the event here.

Jordan Brand Invitational

TSN will broadcast the inaugural JORDAN BRAND INVITATIONAL. This showcase will highlight the elite emerging basketball talents from across North America. National team members and Canadian rising stars such as Ignas Brazdeikis, Jaelin Llewellyn, Lindell Wigginton and Kalif Young will participate. Basketball Without Borders Global Camp

The NBA and FIBA are hosting the second annual Basketball without Borders (BWB) Global Camp during NBA All-Star 2016 in Toronto. Canada Basketball is pleased to have four Canadian boys and five girls, including Manitoba's Niyah Becker selected to participate. National team members Kelly Olynyk and Natalie Achonwa will also assist at the camp, along with senior men's national team assistant coach, Bryan Gates. Click here for more information on the camp and here for media availability.

All-Star Celebrity Game

Women's national team member Natalie Achonwa and alumni Tammy Sutton-Brown will participate on Drake's Team Canada, along with Steve Nash who will be an assistant coach. The game tips-off Friday night at 7:00 p.m. ET at the Ricoh Coliseum. More information here.

Rookie Rising Star

Team Canada's Trey Lyles, Dwight Powell and Andrew Wiggins will suit up for Team World in the BBVA Rookie Rising Star game. The game tips-off at 9:00 p.m. ET Friday night at the Air Canada Centre. More information here.  

Canada Basketball Coach School

Led by our coach education staff, CB Coach School, will take place February 12th and 13th at Mattamy Centre in conjunction with the BWB global camp. Twenty-five coaches including Basketball Manitoba's Dan Becker and Ian Dickey will get on-court experience and receive presentations from men's and women's high performance staff, as well as national team athletes Lizanne Murphy, Tamara Tatham, Alisha Tatham and Natalie Achonwa.

NEW YORK, Jan. 29, 2016 - The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) today announced the top 53 boys and girls from 27 countries who will travel to Toronto for the second annual Basketball without Borders (BWB) Global Camp.  Manitoba's Niyah Becker has been invited to attend by Canada Basketball as one of only 10 girls in the world to the special camp.  She joins 4 other Canadian females at the 10 person female event.  The camp will be held Feb. 12-14 at Mattamy Athletic Centre as part of NBA All-Star 2016, the first NBA All-Star to be held outside of the United States, and Nike will serve as the official partner.  Niyah was also recently returned from a Canadian National Team camp in December and is a member of the Manitoba Provincial Team and Centre for Performance programs.  She is a grade 10 student at Vincent Massey in Winnipeg with the #2 ranked Trojans.    



Basketball Manitoba would like to thank all the participants who joined the NBA as part of its All-Star Tour of events this past weekend in Winnipeg!  The whirlwind tour began Thursday night were a Jr NBA players clinic took place at the North End YMCA involving 60 players ages 8-13.  The players came from the local YMCA and members of the WAAY basketball league.

Joining the events on Friday was NBA Legend Muggsy Bogues who appeared on a number of morning news shows inviting local basketball fans to join him later that night and Saturday at the Downtown YMCA and University of Manitoba.  The Friday stop at the flagship Downtown YMCA saw two more Jr NBA player clinics involving over 75 local area YMCA members and from the Spence Neighborhood Association and a number of other hands on interactive basketball stops throughout the facility.  Muggsy joined the clinics giving attendees some ball handling and dribbling tips.  

The clinics also involved professional dunker Michael 'Air Dogg' Stewart, the Toronto Raptor mascot and members of the Toronto Raptors Dance Pak.  

Saturday say the start of the Bell All-Star Challenge where anyone aged 14 and up could come down to the Investors Group Athletic Centre to try their hand at the Skills Challenge, 3-Point Shootout and Dunk Championships.  The courses were set up identical to how the NBA All-Stars will compete in at the All-Star Game this February in Toronto.  

Coming away as the top finishers after the qualification, semi-final and final rounds were Ryan Johnson - Skills Challenge winner, Dhruv Barman - 3 Point Shoot Out winner and Isaac Onyeacholem - Slam Dunk winner (all pictured in the lower image left to right with the Toronto Raptors Dance Pak respectively.  Top image shows the winners from St. John's, NL).


Wrapping up the weekend was a final players Jr NBA clinic at the West YMCA to another group of 60+ area children including those from the local YMCA and members of the WMBA's Kirkfield Westwood Community Centre.  All camps were led by Basketball Manitoba's Dan Becker with on-court support from Ian Dickey, Suraj Kanda, Jillian Kehler, Adam Wedlake and 'Air Dogg'.

UPDATED: Basketball Manitoba is pleased to share the news that the NBA All-Star Tour will be making a stop in Winnipeg on November 19-22, 2015 as a lead up to the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Toronto this February.  Joining the tour stop in Winnipeg will be NBA Legend Muggsy Bogues.

The tour is a nationwide All-Star 2016 program that will bring the excitement of All-Star to 14 Canadian cities in 10 provinces from November through February.
GROUP TICKET PRICING: TORONTO, June 1, 2015 – The National Basketball Association (NBA) will hold its fourth annual NBA Canada Series presented by Bell, featuring a record five teams playing an all-time high four preseason games in Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Winnipeg’s game will be held on Saturday, October 10 when the Chicago Bulls take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tickets go on-sale Saturday, June 6 through Ticketmaster with prices starting at $19.50 (plus fees) and courtside available starting at $175.00 (plus fees).
Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries in partnership with NBA Canada have announced details on a special youth leadership event featuring NBA Legend and Hall of Fame Member Robert Parish.  The event will occur on Saturday October 10, 2015 at the Club Regent Event Centre, 1425 Regent Avenue West in Winnipeg at 11:00 am.  The all ages event costs only $12 which includes a lunch.

Robert Parish played in the NBA for a still standing record of 1,611 games over a 21 season career.  He is most remembered with his 14 season with the Boston Celtics along side other legends Larry Bird and Kevin McHale.  He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003 and in 1996, Parish was also named as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.

Meet one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History!  Robert "The Chief" Parish is coming to Foot Locker Polo Park this Friday, October 9, 2015, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

Parish is in town for the NBA pre-season game scheduled for Saturday night at the MTS Centre between the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves.
