Team Manitoba Wraps Up Successful Weekend at U.S. Events

Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce the results for three provincial teams following competition in Minnesota from July 11–13, 2025. The 17U and 14U female teams participated in the 2025 North Tartan Meltdown, while the 15U male team competed at the Prep Hoops Future Stars Classic.

Each squad displayed strong fundamentals, tactical growth, and resilience against top U.S. competition.

17U Female – North Tartan Meltdown (Shakopee, MN)

Head Coach: Ashley Hoitink

Assistant Coaches: Kelli Sinnock, Autumn Agar 

Results:

  • Defeated MN Nice – Pierre 56–26
  • Defeated MN Diamond Elite 75–29
  • Defeated Midwest All-Starz 38–34
  • Defeated Wisconsin 16/17U White 48–23
  • Defeated Midwest All-Starz (Rematch) 56–43

Final Record: 5–0


14U Female – North Tartan Meltdown (Bloomington, MN)

15U Male – Prep Hoops Future Stars Classic (Minneapolis, MN)

Basketball Manitoba has announced that three of its provincial teams—the 17U Female, 14U Female, and 15U Male squads—will be travelling to Minneapolis, Minnesota, this coming weekend to compete in two high-level American tournaments as part of their preparations for the 2025 National Championships and Canada Games.

Female Teams Face Off Against Saskatchewan and Alberta in Competitive Weekend Series


The 2025 Prairie Cup concluded this past weekend with Team Manitoba’s female provincial teams competing against Team Saskatchewan and Team Alberta at the University of Regina from July 5–6, 2025. The annual event featured high-calibre matchups across the 14U, 15U, and 17U age categories, delivering a full slate of tightly contested games.

Across two days of play, Manitoba’s teams displayed grit and determination against strong opposition, including several close games and an overtime thriller in the 15U division on Sunday. Manitoba’s 14U squad earned a split over Saskatchewan, while the 17U team faced off against both Alberta and Saskatchewan, gaining valuable experience heading into the summer’s national competitions.

Basketball Manitoba extends its appreciation to Basketball Saskatchewan for hosting this year’s event and to Alberta Basketball for joining the 17U division competition. The Prairie Cup continues to be a key development opportunity for Manitoba athletes and coaches, as preparations continue toward the National Championships and Canada Games.





Our friends in Saskatchewan will host the 9th annual 'Prairie Cup Challenge' series of basketball games between the Manitoba and Saskatchewan 14U, 15U and 17U female provincial teams.  The female event is scheduled for this weekend (July 5-6) at the University of Regina, featuring games between the province's top 14- to 17-year-old players. The 17U Alberta team will also travel to Regina for a game against Team Manitoba.  

This event marks the 9th time Basketball Manitoba and Basketball Saskatchewan will send their best to play a series of exhibition games as a warm-up to the National Championships and Canada Games scheduled for later this summer.

The Team Toba male provincial teams delivered a strong showing at the 2025 Prairie Cup, winning 8 of 9 games against Team Saskatchewan in a two-day series hosted at the University of Regina.

The Manitoba female Provincial Teams will travel to Regina for a similar competition schedule on July 5-6, with the details of the schedule to be released next week.  

    Basketball Manitoba is proud to formally announce the final rosters for the 2025 Manitoba Provincial Teams. These six teams – 14U Female, 14U Male, 15U Female, 15U Male, 17U Female and 17U Male will go on to train and represent the province this summer at various events, with the 15U teams at the Canada Basketball National Championships in Ontario and the 17Us at the Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland.

    Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce details on the 2025 Provincial Team Tryouts for the upcoming summer. The tryouts for the program will occur May 23-25 at the Sport Manitoba Courts (aka Canada Games Sport for Life Centre) at 145 Pacific Avenue in Winnipeg, MB

    Basketball Manitoba is very pleased to announce its Provincial Team Program coaching lineup at the 17U and 15U levels for the summer of 2025.  This summer, the program will feature a total of 4 teams at the male & female 17U and 15U levels.  The head coaches of the teams (and pictured in the order above from left to right) are Dan Becker (17UM), Ashley Hoitink (17UF), Patrick Mart (15UM) and Robyn Boulanger (15UF).  Dan and Ashley are completing the second year of their 2 year terms this summer.
