NEW CLINIC DATE ADDED: Basketball Manitoba in partnership with the Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials is pleased to offer the 'Junior Officials Development Program' (JODP) clinics for people new to refereeing that are 15 years of age or older.  The program is designed to improve the overall level of officiating in the Junior High / Middle School & Minor basketball leagues.

As part of a new "Return to Basketball" initiative by Basketball Manitoba and the Manitoba Association of Basketball Official (MABO), a new special $21.00 clinic registration fee has been established for 2021, down from the normal $95.00 clinic fee (a savings of $74.00).

Basketball Manitoba is pleased to launch a new initiative aimed to attract more young people into becoming a new basketball referee or coach.  The 'Be a Ref' promotion is targeting young adults in the 18-25 age range to continue with the sport this April in a different capacity.  With most people in this age range seeing their basketball involvement coming to end, we want to open another chapter with your love for the game of basketball!  Basketball Manitoba, MABO, WMBA and MHSAA are offering a free referee clinic to these people this April to make basketball a 'sport for life'.

Thanks for making the decision to get involved as a basketball referee and making basketball a sport for life!  We want to get you off and running with the right information and skills and make this a life long experience!

The dates include October 1, 2, 16 and November 5, 2016 with a new clinic just added for Saturday November 26. All new and existing junior referees ages 15+ will be required to attend one of the all-day clinics this fall. REMINDER: River East Transcona School Division has announced it will be hosting a Junior Officials Development Program (JODP) clinic for basketball on Saturday January 10, 2015 at John Henderson School in Winnipeg.  Basketball Manitoba is pleased to partner with the initiative with the 'Junior Officials Development Program' (JODP) clinics which are designed for people new to refereeing or have some officiating experience that are 15 years of age or older. The program is designed to improve the overall level of officiating in the Junior High (Middle School) and for the WMBA.

The clinic is scheduled for January 10, 2015 and is intended for 1st year and 2nd year officials including adults or youth over 15 years of age. Note:  This certification is required as well for to officiate in RETSD.  The cost for this workshop is $45.  Cheques must be made payable to 'Basketball Manitoba' and presented at the 8:30 AM registration on January 10. Costs will be covered for RETSD students who will be officiating in RETSD in grade 7- 9 leagues.

A current FIBA rule book will be provided.  Participants must bring a whistle or may be available for purchase at the clinic for an additional $5.  Registrants will gain rules knowledge and experience in practice opportunities during the clinic.  Please dress appropriately, wearing athletic footwear.
