Hoops From The Heart is coming to Winnipeg this summer for a second exciting year! Over 400 people were in attendance at last year’s event and it’s back! “Hoops From The Heart” is the premier basketball event in Manitoba featuring the best in Canadian College and University Men’s basketball players playing the game they love for the benefit of others. The University of Manitoba Men’s Basketball team and the University of Winnipeg Men’s Basketball team will play two All Star teams made up of Manitoban players who play for University or College teams outside of Winnipeg. The games are at 6:30 pm (for the U of M game) and 8:15 pm (for the U of W game) on Wednesday evening, August 11th at the Duckworth Centre at the University of Winnipeg. All of the players are paying a registration fee to play in the game and all of this money will go to
support two worthy charities: the purchase of basketballs for inner city youth, and the support of heart research at St Boniface General Hospital. The referees are donating their time for this worthy cause as well.  For details including full rosters...





Just a small sampling of those who have confirmed their involvement (besides those from the U of M and U of W): It include Coaches Sukhvir Singh, Head Basketball Coach, Red River College and Darcy Coss, Head Basketball Coach, Canadian Mennonite University, Xavier Smith and Kevin Oman from Brandon University, Tim Rossy from the University of Waterloo, Matt Pierce from Thompson Rivers University, Keith Omerah from McMaster University, Chad Posthumus from the University of British Columbia, Tyler Pierce and David Kohler from Medicine Hat College, Deli Legris from Algoma College and Nick Loewen from Mount Royal College in Calgary. This is just a sampling of the quality ball you’ll see on August 11th at the Duckworth Centre at the University of Winnipeg!
