HEAD COACH - MEN’S BASKETBALL
Applications are invited for the position of Men’s Basketball Head Coach. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the appointment is a one-year term position (renewable) at the rank of Instructor 1 in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, University of Manitoba, effective April 1, 2009 continuing until March 31, 2010. Position Number 09288.
DUTIES:
The Head Coach will be responsible for the organization and operation of the Men's Basketball Program including but not limited to the recruitment and retention of student athletes in the program, coordination of coaching staff, direction of off-season training programs, building and fostering a positive relationship with Bison Men’s Basketball alumni, networking with local, provincial and national basketball level coaches and teaching duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications for the position include relevant coaching certifications and a minimum of three years of successful experience in coaching elite level basketball athletes. Appointment at the level of Instructor requires a degree in a related field. Applicants with an advanced degree or equivalent are particularly encouraged to apply. The ability to work within the university environment and with the public at large is essential. The successful candidate must have superior organizational skills, an ability to recruit throughout Canada, a desire to build alumni support and a commitment to the personal and educational development of the student-athlete.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
