LIMITED AWARDS SEATS REMAIN
We are very close to the maximum number of seats available at the 2026 Basketball Manitoba Awards. Those who have not reserved a spot can still attend, but may not be provided a seat. The Awards event will begin on Saturday, April 18, at 3:00 p.m. at Alloway Hall at the Manitoba Museum. Past events have run for approximately two hours.
The deadline to vote or apply for a Basketball Manitoba Awards recognition has now passed. Those being recognized will be notified prior to the event scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Sport Manitoba Courts and the Manitoba Museum.
Basketball Manitoba is pleased to offer players and coaches in Manitoba the opportunity to vote for the All-Manitoba Teams, Players of the Year, and Coaches of the Year, and apply for over $12,000 in available grants, scholarships and donations. A new coaching award created in the memory of long-time coach Dennis Wilson has been created for 2026. This award joins the other awards, which have traditionally been recognized at the Basketball Manitoba Awards.

We are inviting ALL basketball coaches in Manitoba to cast their votes and for eligible members of the community to apply for an award or scholarship before the deadline of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 12:00 pm (no extensions will be offered).

Basketball Manitoba will host the four Graduating All-Star Games on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Sport Manitoba Courts (aka Canada Games Sport for Life Centre) at 10:00 am for the AAAA levels and 12:00 pm for the A-AAA levels. All games will be live-streamed as only a limited amount of spectator space is available in the facility.

DEADLINE FRIDAY: Basketball MB Awards Nominations for All-Manitoba & Grad All-Stars; Deadline Feb 20

Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce the details of its Basketball Manitoba Awards as part of the 2025-26 basketball season. Basketball Manitoba is asking all basketball coaches at the Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls levels (A to AAAA) to submit names to be considered for this year's 'All-Manitoba' teams. These submissions must be in by noon on Friday, February 20. The Basketball Manitoba Awards (BMAs) annually recognize athletes and coaches from across Manitoba for their outstanding achievements throughout the basketball season. The voting and nomination procedures will see voting open to ALL basketball coaches in Manitoba.
The Vic Pruden Basketball Bursary Fund has been announced to honour one of Manitoba’s most influential builders in the sport of basketball. Established in 2025, the bursary recognizes two graduating high school student-athletes each year, one male and one female, who intend to continue their basketball careers at Brandon University, the University of Manitoba, or the University of Winnipeg.
The bursary is named in honour of Vic Pruden, whose seven decades of leadership helped shape basketball at every level in Manitoba. As a builder of the sport, he was the founding organizer of the Fort Garry Invitational Tournament and the Golden Boy Invitational – now known as the Wesmen Classic – and was the driving force behind creating both the men’s and women’s basketball programs at the University of Winnipeg. His coaching résumé includes numerous championship teams at Sisler High School, Vincent Massey Collegiate, and the University of Winnipeg, along with significant contributions to provincial and national programs. Testimonials within the brochure further highlight Pruden’s enduring legacy as a mentor and architect of basketball in the province.
From his own experience, Vic understood the financial challenge many student-athletes face while pursuing post-secondary sport. This bursary was created to assist two graduating athletes with financial need as they take their next academic and athletic step.
HOW TO HELP:
Everyone is welcome to contribute to the fund. Gifts to the Vic Pruden Bursary Fund are pooled and invested, with a portion of the annual income distributed directly to recipients. The original contributions remain invested, ensuring long-term support for generations of Manitoba student-athletes.
The bursary fund aims to grow into a fully sustainable endowment. Beginning in the near future, the two annual bursary recipients will be formally recognized as part of the Basketball Manitoba Awards.
Donations can be made by phone, online, or by mailing the completed contribution form. The official giving form administered by The Winnipeg Foundation outlines payment options, recurring gift details, tax receipt information, and mailing instructions.
