Basketball Manitoba is pleased to offer players and coaches in Manitoba the opportunity to vote for the All-Manitoba Teams, Players of the Year, and Coaches of the Year, and apply for over $12,000 in available grants, scholarships and donations.  A new coaching award created in the memory of long-time coach Dennis Wilson has been created for 2026.  This award joins the other awards, which have traditionally been recognized at the Basketball Manitoba Awards.

  • Dennis Wilson Coaching Award (NEW)
  • Morris Glimcher Student Manager Award
  • Mike Spack Lifetime Achievement Award
$12,450 in grants and scholarships is available to basketball players and coaches in Manitoba!  Basketball Manitoba is grateful to the Winnipeg Sea Bears, the University of Manitoba, the Meyers Family, the Hanec Family, the Jonsson Family, the Marquardson Family, Marg Wilson, Morris Glimcher, the University of Manitoba, the Association of Rural Municipalities Capital Region and the Winnipeg Foundation for supporting the scholarships.  

We are inviting ALL basketball coaches in Manitoba to cast their votes and for eligible members of the community to apply for an award or scholarship before the deadline of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 12:00 pm (no extensions will be offered).

Basketball Manitoba will host the four Graduating All-Star Games on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Sport Manitoba Courts (aka Canada Games Sport for Life Centre) at 10:00 am for the AAAA levels and 12:00 pm for the A-AAA levels.  All games will be live-streamed as only a limited amount of spectator space is available in the facility.

All applications must begin by completing the form below, along with the following, as noted... 

* Application requires a current copy of your high school transcript 
** Application requires a letter of support from your basketball coach
*** Application requires the endorsement of two other coaches in the basketball community  

P - CHAD POSTHUMUS AWARDS - 2 X $1500.00 SCHOLARSHIPS * / ** 
Recognizes two Grade 12 basketball players in Manitoba (one male, one female) who demonstrate basketball excellence, resilience in overcoming adversity, academic dedication, and kindness to others.

P - CARL RIDD AWARDS - 2 X $750.00 SCHOLARSHIPS * / **
Recognizes two Grade 12 basketball players in Manitoba (one male, one female) who excel on the court, in the classroom and in the community.

P - RON MEYERS LEADERSHIP AWARDS - 2 X $500.00 SCHOLARSHIPS  * / **
Recognizes two Grade 12 basketball players in Manitoba (one male, one female) who excel in the community, on the court and in the classroom.

P - DONOVAN GAYLE SCHOLARSHIPS - 2 X $500.00 SCHOLARSHIPS  **
Recognizing a Grade 12 basketball player who best meets the qualities of perseverance, determination and resilience that Donovan set as a leader in our community.

P - MATT JONSSON "ASSIST" SCHOLARSHIPS - 2 X $500.00 SCHOLARSHIPS  ** 
Recognizes one male and one female high school basketball player (Grade 9–11) who demonstrate perseverance, teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to self-improvement, focusing on supporting those in financial need.  

P - LARRY MARQUARDSON MEMORIAL BASKETBALL AWARD - 1 x $700.00 SCHOLARSHIP ** 
Recognizes a Grade 12 female basketball player who exemplifies hard work, sportsmanship, and community spirit, maintains a 70% or higher academic average and is pursuing post-secondary education.

P - LENA WENKE COURAGE AWARD - 1 X $750.00 DONATION TO THE RECIPIENT'S CHARITY OF CHOICE  **
Recognizes a Grade 12 basketball player who has faced and overcome obstacles or challenges while staying involved in basketball.

C - JIM BULLOCH COACHING AWARD - 1 X $1000.00 SCHOLARSHIP  ***
Recognizes a newer Manitoba basketball coach with little experience and strong potential as a long-term leader in our sport.  

C - IRV HANEC COACHING AWARD - 1 X $750.00 SCHOLARSHIP *** 
Recognizes a newer Manitoba basketball coach with little experience and strong potential as a long-term leader in our sport.  

C - DENNIS WILSON COACHING AWARD - 1 X $1000.00 SCHOLARSHIP *** (NEW)
Recognizes one Grade 12 basketball player in Manitoba (male or female) who is pursuing a post-secondary Education degree and demonstrates a dedication to development, aspirations to coach, leadership and community involvement.

M - MORRIS GLIMCHER STUDENT MANAGER SCHOLARSHIP - 1 X $1000.00 SCHOLARSHIP  **
Recognizes a grade 12 graduating student as the Varsity Basketball Team Manager of the Year.
