The Interlake Reserve Tribal Council (IRTC) Chiefs Basketball Program has announced an immediate opening for the position of Head Coach of the U21 Men’s Travel Team. This leadership opportunity will play a key role in guiding talented young Indigenous athletes as they prepare to compete at the Alberta Indigenous Games, taking place August 6–11, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta.


The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and lead comprehensive training programs.
  • Mentor athletes in both sport and life skills.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture that honours Indigenous values.
  • Provide strategic and in-game coaching leadership.
  • Collaborate with support staff and lead team preparation for the Games.


Key Requirements:

  • Proven coaching experience.
  • Understanding of Indigenous culture and youth development.
  • NCCP Level 1 certification (minimum).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentorship skills.
  • Ability to travel and commit to a 2x/week training schedule.
  • Up-to-date Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks.
