Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Advertises start of league seasons.
  • Arranges for registrations to occur in a timely manner.
  • Follows up on statistics generated, and posts these in a timely and acceptable way.
  • Monitors league revenues and authorizes all expenditures.
  • Works with the UWSA to develop, coordinate, and advertise all intramural programs for students and employees.
  • Schedules league games and intramural activities.
  • Manages activities onsite during league play, or arranges for appropriate supervision during games
  • Acts as the University’s primary point of contact if/when problems arise before, during and after league games and intramural activities.
  • Enforces league and University policies.
  • Monitors facilities to ensure the safety of all users. Takes appropriate action to eliminate risks or communicate risks to appropriate staff.
  • Hires, monitors, and evaluates staff working at league games and during intramural activities. 
  • Prepares and authorizes payroll for casual staff.
  • Arranges for referees through the appropriate sporting organization.
  • Maintains websites for leagues and intramural activities.
  • Provides administrative support for the department’s Health and Safety Subcommittee and Risk Management Committee.
  • Provides administrative support to the Director and Business Development and Operations Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school completion required
  • Some University education preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a sports league is highly desirable
  • Experience supervising staff at events preferred
  • Experience dealing with the public is required
  • Some experience with accounting is desirable
  • Budgeting skills required
  • Good computer skills required
  • Familiarity with software programs used for maintaining websites and for league registrations is desired
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate and establish work priorities and deadlines
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to provide advice
  • Must be able to make sound independent judgments and utilize problem-solving abilities
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external contacts
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to monitor and coordinate the work of others

An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.


Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
