  3. CANADA QUEST TEAM ELIGIBILITY RULES

Some points of emphasis include…

  • The play remains ‘live’ after every score, and NO checking of the ball is performed after made baskets, including FT.
  • Games are played to 21 points or 10 minutes stopped time clock and a 12-second shot clock.
  • A coin toss will determine the possession of each game.  The coin toss winner will decide to begin the game with possession of the ball or in a potential overtime.
  • Shots made inside the arc are worth 1 point, and attempts made outside the arc are worth 2 points.  All made FT are 1 point.
  • All violations, out of bounds and non-shooting fouls will result in the ball being ‘checked’ at the top of the arc by the opposing team.
  • The ball needs to be ‘cleared’ past the 2-point arc on every change of possession, including made baskets.
  • A penalty of 2 free throws will be awarded at the 7, 8, and 9 team foul, and two free throws and possession of the ball will occur on the 10th and subsequent team foul per game.
  • If overtime is required after regulation time expires, the team who scores the first 2 points will win the game.  Overtime possession will be awarded to the team that did not begin the game in possession of the ball.
  • Defaulted games will be scored 21-0 in favour of the non-defaulting team.
  • Teams cannot add or change their roster with new players once their first game begins, including the reason for injuries-related issues.
