It is with great sadness that MABO shares the news of the passing of one of our basketball referees Trevor Harder

Trevor started out officiating as a family affair alongside his father and brother, they refereed in the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA). Later, Trevor joined the Winnipeg Basketball Officials Association (WBOA) officiating games for Winnipeg School Division #1.

His thirst for knowledge and improvement drove him to excel to higher levels by participation at the Manitoba High School Provincials, Senior Men’s League, Canada Basketball National Championships and the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference.

Trevor brought such professionalism to his officiating and always gave his best effort no matter what level he was assigned. His mechanics were masterful and always maintained a calm and cool composure even during games with heightened emotions.

He was so proud of his 6-year-old daughter (Lily) who at times would be at games observing daddy, and to see Trevor’s gleaming smile at games end when he picked her up was so infectious and heartfelt.

Not only was Trevor a great official but also a well-respected human being.

You will be missed, Trevor.
