Basketball Manitoba is pleased to share the news that Gray Academy of Winnipeg has donated 150 towards the SWISH Basketball Program as part of its leadership program at the school.  The funds were raised at its Raiders Rumble Basketball Tournament that was played earlier this year.  Instead of charging a team fee, the leadership students decided to ask each team to bring one basketball per player.

The goal of its 'Project 2020' is to raise 2020 basketballs by the year 2020.

Leading the program at the school are 202 chair Dylan Kagan and Lauren Cogan.  Members of the council also include Devin Cohen and Sarah Jacobsohn and supported at the school by teacher Jamie Kagan (pictured above with SWISH Coordinator Xavier Smith and Basketball Manitoba's Adam Wedlake).

Gray Academy of Jewish Education is a Junior Kindergarten to grade 12, co-educational post secondary preparatory school that places equal value on Jewish and General academic programs.  Nestled along the Assiniboine River, Gray Academy is located at the Asper Jewish Community Campus. It is the only independent Jewish day school in Winnipeg, and is the only Jewish day school in western Canada with an international student homestay program.  Gray Academy prides itself on its ability to nurture the well-being of its students and to provide them with opportunities that encourage them to become positive contributors to their local and global communities.

Basketball Manitoba and the SWISH basketball program are grateful to be the recipients of their efforts and will use the donation to get the basketballs in the hands of those who can benefit from them the most!

If you would like to help the project reach its goals, please contact Jamie Kagen at jkagan@grayacademy.ca

THANK YOU!
