Canada Basketball has announced that 28 coaches, technical leaders, and performances analysts from across the country will participate in the 3rd annual women's high performance technical summit at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ont. from December 8th-10th. Joining the summit from Manitoba will be Michele Hynes and Dan Becker. 
"This event is a tremendous investment in the professional development of our Canadian women's coaches and technical leaders. 2015 was a very successful competitive season for our program - back-to-back golds and Olympic qualification at the senior level; our best finish in the FISU Universiade; and our first gold at the U16/U17 level," said Denise Dignard, director, women's high performance. "We're seeing the results of the harmonization of our gold medal model including athlete and coach development and our Canadian style of play. These sessions are paramount in furthering the growth and success of our program throughout the Podium Pathway for years to come."The summit, which takes place in advance of the women's national age-group assessment camp (Dec 11th-15th), provides coaches and technical leaders from all stages of development the opportunity to share best practices. The objective of the three-day summit is to grow the depth and scope of the women's national coaching pool and provide training on international basketball and long-term athlete development.
The summit will be led by women's high performance program staff members Mike MacKay, performance manager, Steve Baur, performance analyst/SWNT assistant coach, with assistance from Agnes Borg, manager youth player development and other national coaches, technical leaders and mentors. In addition, women's national team head coach, Lisa Thomaidis, and assistants Shawnee Harle and Baur will share some lessons learned from the team's back-to-back 2015 gold medal performances and second consecutive Olympic qualification.The summit also provides a platform to introduce new concepts and technology to the program, as well as the opportunity to further integrate performance analysis into coaching.
Technical directors and provincial representatives will also attend the summit, helping to further grow the Canadian style of play throughout the country's Podium Pathway.
