The attack mode summer basketball academy offers youth basketball a chance to develop the fundamentals of the game with a professional coaching staff. The teaching camp will focus on basketball instruction, adapted to the age of participants, combining on-court basketball skills sessions, games of 3-on-3, and specific athletic development.

The 5-day camp includes 7 hours of on court individual basketball skills training, 4 hours of 3-on-3 scrimmage and tournament (indoor and outdoor), 3 sessions of athletic workout with a trainer (speed, agility, quickness and strength), and 1 hour of conditioning in the pool.

Basketball experience is required for every camper (organized community club or basketball club players only).

Camp will focus on individual fundamentals on offense and defense, offering the players strong skills and simple to concepts to perform on the basketball court.


Attack Mode Summer Basketball Academy Curriculum:

A. DRIBBLING SERIES: HESITATION MOVES AND COUNTER, BLOW BY MOVES ON OFFENSE // LIVE BALL INDIVIDUAL DEFENSE.

B. SHOOTING SERIES: FORM SHOOTING, THE HOP, CATCH AND SHOOT, PULL UP JUMP SHOT, QUICK DRAW.

C. FINISHING MOVES AND POST UP MOVES (sessions 3 and 4 only) // DEFEND THE POST.

D. ATTACK STANCE AND FOOTWORK, JAB STEP, HANDLE PRESSURE, FIRST STEP EXPLOSION AND OFFENSIVE MOVE 1ON1 // BALL PRESSURE, DEFENSIVE STANCE ON THE BALL

E. CUTTING TECHNIQUE AND READING THE DEFENSE // DENYING DEFENSE POSITION, DENY AND DEFEND CUTTER ON DEFENSE.

F. CONCEPTS ON OFFENSE THROUGH BASE GAME, PENETRATION GAME 2-ON-2 & 3-ON-3, READ & REACT - ATTACK MODE.

Coaching Staff

Herve Vincent – Head Coach

Vincent was born and raised in France, where his dedication to the game began in 1988 when he first picked up the sport. He has been involved in coaching since 1997, initially as a volunteer until he became a certified coach in 2005. He earned his degrees in sociology, education and sports training.

He has coached and trained players at all levels, from youth to adult, at both the city and national level for 18 years. He has experience in promoting basketball via presentations in schools, community centers, university, tournaments and skill camps. From 2006 to 2009, Vincent worked as a technical supervisor for the youth basketball development program in the SPO Rouen professional club, where he developed and implemented specific youth skills programs. He also developed the grassroots program "school of basketball" multiplying the number of players by 3 times in 3 years with the club. He was nominated head coach for the best grade 6-7 players selection at the provincial level in 2008 and 2009.

In 2009, Vincent moved to Canada to experience the sports culture in North America. He joined the Junior Bisons program and started his work with Basketball Manitoba's Center for Performance and high performance skill camps. Vincent is currently an assistant coach with the University of Manitoba Bisons men's team and the coordinator of the Junior Bison Boys Basketball club. He started his certification in Canada, and has travelled in 10 countries where he has played basketball in every city he's visited.

Xavier Smith – Assistant Coach

Winnipeg native Xavier Smith graduated in 2013 from the University of Manitoba. The former Bison team captain brings his CIS experience and leadership as a mentor and coach. Currently coordinator of the SWISH program, Smith is now teaching the fundamentals and the values that made him the great player he became. A student of the game, Xavier’s development derives from hard work and mental toughness. Head coach Vincent says “Xavier is the definition of hard work, the perfect teammate who also knows how to lead and motivate young people in the community.”
