Over 600 people attended this year’s 2nd Annual Hoops From The Heart basketball games featuring the best players in Manitoba! Significantly, this included over 100 inner city youth who each received a free meal, a basketball signed by one of the players who starred in the games and a Hoops From The Heart T-shirt! Free scholarships were also provided to lucky inner city youth to attend the University of Winnipeg Summer Basketball camp! And there were countless autographs given out by the players to the kids all night long! What an exciting night!  For more info including some pictures from the evening and how you can help out future events...

Thanks to the University of Winnipeg for hosting the event, to the University of

Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba teams for making the night so successful!

Both teams won again this year. Many thanks to their opponents on the court who

represented 10 Colleges and Universities across Canada. A big thank you to the Manitoba

Association of Basketball Officials for volunteering their time to referee the games. We

are also grateful to all of the volunteers for helping make this year’s event such a great

success. Our thanks to everyone who came out to watch the games and enjoy a special

basketball evening filled with unusual energy and so many smiling young faces. In the

past two years the event has raised over $5000 to support heart research at St Boniface

Hospital and Basketballs for Inner City Kids!!

Our sponsors made it all happen – The Mayor’s Office of the City of Winnipeg, the

Royal Bank of Canada, Larry Vickar Chevrolet and Myers Norris Penny.

Best of luck to all the inner city kids who will play basketball this year and to all of our

talented, outstanding young College and University players in the upcoming season!
