Basketball Manitoba is seeking individuals from throughout Manitoba to serve on its newly created 'Provincial Council' for the upcoming year.  The Council will be comprised of as many as 12 people, representing both coaches and referees from the 6 regions of Manitoba including the areas of Central, Eastman, Interlake, Norman, Parkland and Westman regions.  The Council will meet by conference call every 4-8 weeks to discuss specific player, coach and referee development issues and be used for general information sharing tied to the sport of basketball in these respective regions.  To date, we have all regions regions represented EXCEPT Interlake and Eastman.  Those interested in serving in such capacity can learn more on the Council and can contact Adam Wedlake at Basketball Manitoba.  Those already on the council include...

  1. Specific player based Basketball Manitoba programming including Manitoba Provincial Team Program, Steve Nash Youth Basketball, Regional Training Centres, High Performance Camps among others.


  2. Specific coach based Basketball Manitoba programming including the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and Super Coaches Clinic among others.

  3. Specific referee based Basketball Manitoba programing including the Junior Officials Development Program (JODP) and Senior MABO Referee Clinics among others.

  4. Connection with Basketball Manitoba's Board of Directors and Technical Committee.

  5. Basketball at the Manitoba Games.

  6. Other new initiatives or directions the sport should be taking moving forward.
