Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce an NCCP coaching clinics held in Brandon, Manitoba on Jan. 9-10, 2010. This course serve as a way to bring a fresh look at how we want to teach and play basketball in our province to be able to compete across the country and to encourage athletes to stay involved long past their competitive years.  

 

'Community Coach' Clinic

Specific items covered at the basketball clinicwill include… 

  • -          Ethics in coaching
  • -          Equipment and rules in basketball (including game modifications)
  • -          Practice planning and sport safety
  • -          Tasks of the ‘Community Coach’
  • -          Children and their sport needs provided in a progressional approach
  • -          Competition organization
  • -          A ‘games’ approach to coaching
  • -          Providing an ‘Active Start’ to a healthy and positive life in sport!

  • $85.00 per person for the 8 hour clinic


 

 

Introduction to Competition

 

The three teaching modules for the Introduction to Competition consist of Making Ethical Decisions,Practice Planning, and on-court modified games. These will allowcoaches to develop a teaching style that fits within the philosophy ofLong Term Athlete Development

Coaches who complete this course will receive their NCCP status as a 'Trained Introduction to Competition Coach'.


Clinic Dates, Times & Locations: (17.5 hours in length)

  • Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010
  • Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010

Prerequisite:

There is no prerequisite or past certification required for coachesinterested in attending this session outside of coaching athletes atthe 11-15 age level. People who have taken past certification (i.e.Level 1 or 2) can also attend this session to bring their certificationstatus up to date and into the new system.

Clinic Registration Fee:

  • $125.00 per person for the 17.5 hour clinic
