Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce that Manitoba referee Reid Kenyon has been awarded his 'FIBA License' as an international referee.  Reid attended a FIBA Americas certification camp back in October in Montreal and was recently notified of the achievement.  Reid joins 16 other Canadian referees who have their FIBA card - including fellow Manitoban Cam Moskal.  The full list of Canadian carded officials can be found at...

The International Basketball Association (FIBA) requires each FIBA zone
to hold certification clinics for international referee candidates.
This three-day event served to re-certify currently licensed officials
and to certify new candidates who have been recommended by their
provincial officials associations.“During each quadrennial all licensed
international officials must attend and successfully complete a number
of tasks at a FIBA-sanctioned officials clinic in order to referee
games at the international level,” said Don Cline, CABO president.

The content included classroom sessions, examinations, a physical test,
and on-floor evaluations of games involving McGill University men’s
varsity team. Upon successful completion, each official will be
certified to officiate at the international level up to and including
FIBA World Championship tournaments and the Olympic Games.

In all, there are currently 246 referees from North or South America that hold their FIBA card status (see full list).

Congratulations Reid!
