SERVICE INFORMATION: It is with great sadness that Basketball Manitoba shares the news of the passing of Dale Swirsky of Winnipeg.  Dale has been around the sport of basketball in many capacities as a coach and supporter for well over 20 years.  Dale passed away on July 2, 2017 at the age of 46.

He has coached at virtually all levels of the game including the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association in the River Heights area, at the club basketball level with the Winnipeg Fury and at the school level at St. Mary's Academy and Grant Park among others.  Dale was a member of the Basketball Manitoba Technical Committee and a regular at different coach education seminars.  A graduate of St. Paul's High School and the University of Manitoba, he also regularly hosted a number of summer basketball camps for children and was currently assisting the 17U Female Canada Games staff with film and statistical analyses.  He was a true student of the game, always working to improve his knowledge of the sport and sharing that information with those around him.

The basketball community's thoughts and prayers are with his daughter Anna, who is currently a member of the 2017 Canada Games team, his wife Karen and son Clark.

His “Celebration of Life” will take place on Thursday July 13th at 2:00 pm at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr., Winnipeg (MAP).
