Manitoba 17U Female Team Brings Home Silver Medal at National Championships

Congratulations to the 17U Female Manitoba Provincial Basketball Team in bringing home the Silver Medal at the Canada Basketball National Championships in Edmonton today!  Manitoba faced a tough Ontario squad after going 3-1 earlier in the tournament, falling 67-55.  Manitoba was led in scoring by Kyanna Giles with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Lana Mackic with 12 points.

The 2015 marked the 3rd year in a row that the 17U Female program brought home a national medal with a Gold in 2014 and Bronze in 2013.  2015 was also the first time since 2000 that both female provincial team programs medaled at the same time.  Earlier in the day, the 15U Manitoba team, defeated New Brunswick to capture the Bronze Medal.

The 17U and 15U female teams will arrive home to Winnipeg to the James Richardson Airport on Thursday July 30 on Westjet flight #738 at 3:05 pm (via Calgary).  Help us welcome the teams home!
