Registration is now open for the 3rd Annual Huddle Brandon / WYBA 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, set for Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Brandon University Healthy Living Centre, located at 2010 Louise Avenue in Brandon.

The annual community basketball event will bring teams together for a full day of 3x3 competition, skill contests and prizes, while supporting the continued community work of Huddle Brandon and the Westman Youth Basketball Association (WYBA). All proceeds from the tournament will support both organizations and their efforts to make a positive impact through sport, youth engagement and community programming.

The tournament will feature boys and girls divisions, with each team guaranteed four games. A shooting competition will be held for each division, with prizes awarded to team and individual winners.

Divisions include:

Boys Divisions

  • U17 – Born 2009 or younger
  • U15 – Born 2011 or younger
  • U13 – Born 2013 or younger

Girls Divisions

  • U17 – Born 2009 or younger
  • U14 – Born 2012 or younger

The team registration fee is $160 per team. A minimum of four teams must register for a division to be confirmed. Jerseys will not be provided, so teams are asked to wear the same colour shirt or jersey.

Spectator admission is $5 per day for those 15 years of age or older, payable by cash only.

The Westman Youth Basketball Association (WYBA) has opened registration for its 2026 Skill Development Program, an eight-week fall training opportunity for boys and girls from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

The program will run from Tuesday, September 8 through Thursday, October 29, 2026, at St. Augustine School, located at 330 3rd Street in Brandon, Manitoba. Eight weekly skill sessions will be offered to novice, intermediate and advanced players.

The updated program format aligns with Canada Basketball’s Long-Term Athlete Development model and will help participants strengthen fundamental skills, including shooting, dribbling, passing and defence. Players will also learn team concepts through 3-on-3 small-sided games, providing more ball touches, improved spacing, increased movement and additional opportunities to apply their skills in game-like situations.

Tuesday Boys’ Sessions — September 8 to October 27

  • Boys in Grades 4 to 7: 6:00 to 7:20 p.m.
  • Boys in Grades 8 and 9: 7:20 to 8:40 p.m.
  • Boys in Grades 10 to 12: 8:40 to 10:00 p.m.

Thursday Co-ed and Girls’ Sessions — September 10 to October 29

  • Co-ed Kindergarten to Grade 3: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • Girls in Grades 4 to 8: 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Girls in Grades 9 to 12: 8:30 to 10:00 p.m.

The early-bird registration fee is $150 until Friday, July 31. The regular registration fee is $175. The fee includes all eight skill sessions, player insurance, coaching and gym rental expenses.

Space is limited in each division. Registration will remain open until Saturday, September 12, or until the applicable group reaches capacity.

The Westman Youth Basketball Association (WYBA) has announced that registration is now open for its 2026 Club Basketball Tournament (Boys Only), taking place May 15–17, 2026, in Brandon, Manitoba.

This annual tournament provides a competitive spring opportunity for club programs and teams, with a minimum of four games guaranteed for each entry.

Divisions Offered (Boys)

  • U13 (2013 born or younger)
  • U15 (2011 born)
  • U18 (2008 born)

Tournament Format / Notes

  • Each division will have an initial cap of 12 teams, with a waiting list implemented once divisions are full.
  • Divisions with more than seven (7) teams will be divided into two tiers to support more competitive matchups.
  • Championship shirts will be awarded to the winning team in each division/tier.
  • Games will feature 10-minute stop-time quarters, except in cases of 30+ point differential or if schedule delays require adjustment.
  • Teams are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses.
  • Teams are reminded to register in the correct age division and to review the refund policy on the registration form.

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS DIVISION ADDDED: Westman Youth Basketball Association has announced its 2025 Winter “Show Up & Play” Basketball Program, offering seven weeks of skill development and game play for athletes in Grades 1 through 8. The program will operate across three school sites in January and February, with limited space available in each division. All promotional images are included with this release.

The format follows a straightforward show-up-and-play model. Teams will be selected at the beginning of each session, with weekly 4-on-4 play using mandatory substitutions to maximize touches and overall development.

Early bird registration is open until December 20. Regular registration runs until January 16 or until divisions reach capacity.

Mondays, January 12 to February 23 – King George School

Girls Grades 5–8

6:00 to 7:30 pm

Maximum 24 per division


Tuesdays, January 13 to February 24 – Riverheights School

Boys Grades 5–6

6:00 to 7:30 pm

Wednesdays, January 14 to February 25 – New Era School

Basketball fans in Westman will once again have the chance to hit the court as the 2nd Annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, hosted by Huddle Brandon and the Westman Youth Basketball Association (WYBA), returns on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Brandon University Healthy Living Centre (HLC), 2010 Louise Avenue.

This high-energy tournament promises fast-paced action, great competition, and community fun for both boys and girls across a variety of age divisions:

  • Boys: Born 2008–2009, 2010–2011, 2012 or younger
  • Girls: Born 2008–2010, 2011 or younger

Each team registration is $120, with four games guaranteed per team. Teams must consist of 4 or 5 players, and all athletes are required to wear matching colour shirts or jerseys. Please note that jerseys are not provided.

Tournament highlights include:

  • A shooting competition for each division

  • $5 spectator fee for those aged 15+ (cash only)

The Westman Youth Basketball Association (WYBA) has announced registration is now open for its Fall 2025 Skill Development Program, running from September 16 to November 4 at St. Augustine School in Brandon, Manitoba.



The Westman Youth Basketball Association (WYBA) has announced that registration for their 2025 club tryouts is now officially open. Aspiring athletes across multiple age categories are invited to showcase their skills and compete for a spot on the WYBA roster.

Tryout details, including dates, times, and age groups, are outlined in the attached images. Participants are encouraged to review the information carefully to ensure they register for the appropriate group.

Day two of tryouts will be announced at a later date and will be open to selected players only.

The Westman Youth Basketball Association has announced details on its annual club basketball tournament scheduled for May 18 & 19, 2024, in Brandon.  They will be hosting our tournament on May long Weekend again and will have divisions for the following age groups:

Males - Age Eligible / Birth Years

  • 13U Male - Born in 2011 or later (age 13 & younger)
  • 15U Male - Born in 2009 or later (age 15 & younger)
  • 17U Male - Born in 2007 or later (age 17 & younger)

Females  - Age Eligible / Birth Years

  • 14U Female - Born in 2010 or later (age 14 & younger) 
  • 16U Female - Born in 2008 or later (age 16 & younger)
  • 18U Female - Born in 2006 or later (age 18 & younger) 

Once the cap of 6 teams is reached, there will be a waiting list for other teams interested. Registration will be closed on April 7 and all payments must be made before April 15. Teams on the waiting list will be notified if there is an extra spot for them or not on April 16. If some divisions haven't reached their max cap we will consider increasing the number of teams in another division.

The Westman Youth Basketball Association (WYBA) has announced they will be hosting open-run basketball sessions. On Mondays, they will be hosting girls grades 5 to 8 & boys grades 5 to 7; on Tuesdays, they will be hosting boys grades 8 & 9 and boys grades 10 to 12. The registration fee is $50, and there will be a limit of 40 participants per division. 

This new program will have 4 sessions and is a good place for intermediate & advanced players to have a game-like experience and apply their skills. They will do a quick team warmup (no basketballs) and announce the teams at the beginning of each session. Depending on the amount of participants that show up each day, they are going to adjust the game format.

Westman Youth Basketball is launching a 6-week skill development program for Boys and Girls in grades 5 to 8. Each session will have 30min of skill work and 30min of small-sided games. The practices will be run by Chirs Unrau and Juan Mosquera, along with some volunteer coaches.

The program will be accepting novice, intermediate, and advanced players looking to improve their basketball skills such as shooting, dribbling, passing, scoring, defense, etc., and teaching team fundamentals through 3v3 and 4v4 competition (allowing more touches for the participants and better spacing).

We will have a cap of 30 participants in each group, and registration will be open until Sept. 10 or when we reach the max limit.
