Basketball Manitoba is asking all participants of this weekend's Club Basketball Championships to bring a used basketball or a pair of basketball shoes to our donation bins this weekend at the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre, University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre, University of Manitoba Investors Group Athletic Centre or Dakota Community Centre Fieldhouse.  Our collection bins are set up near the entrance to each gym area and are there to collect and redistribute used basketball equipment to those in need.  Since launching the bins in January 2013, we have collected over 3500 items through the 10 donation bins located in Manitoba.

In the spirit of the 'Give Away Weekend' and spring cleaning, please look in your basement for a pair of basketball shoes that may be too small or are going unused or an extra basketball and bring it with you to your games this weekend.  Your anticipated donation is greatly appreciated and will be put in the hands or on the feet of a child in Manitoba who wants to play basketball but doesn't have access to the basic equipment needs.  Items can be dropped off at any of the noted locations below.

More information on the collection initiative, please visit http://recycle.basketballmanitoba.ca

Thanks to the support from the basketball community to our Basketball Equipment Recycling Program, Basketball Manitoba has available for FREE used basketballs and basketball shoes for Manitoba based youth sports programs for kids in need.

If you are involved in a school or club based youth sports program and have a need for this equipment, please contact Jillian at Basketball Manitoba at info@basketballmanitoba.ca or (204) 925-5775 ext 1 to arrange access the items.

Distribution priority will be given to under-served youth programs.

If you have gently used basketballs or basketball shoes you no longer use, please consider donating them to us at one of our 10 donation sites found at http://recycle.basketballmanitoba.ca

Basketball Manitoba's Recycling Program is in need of donations to boost its stock of used basketballs and basketball shoes for distribution to under-served children in Manitoba.  There are 10 locations in Manitoba you can donate your gently used equipment to us including at the new Canada Games Sport for Life Centre (image to the right) and the new Dakota Community Centre Fieldhouse.  See below maps (above).

Basketball Manitoba is pleased to partner with Winnipeg's Got Sole, Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association, Basketballs for Inner City Kids, the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Commission (MASRC), the Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg and KidSport to actively collect gently used basketball equipment.  We are calling on the entire basketball community to donate basketballs and basketball shoes to the program so they can be 'rebounded' over to someone in need. You can donate your items to the program by dropping off your gently used basketballs or basketball shoes to one of the below locations.

Basketballs Recycled to Date = 1323
Shoes Recycled to Date = 1562

Three reasons why you should donate to the Basketball Equipment Recycling Program...

About WGS

Winnipeg’s Got Sole was established by Frendell Cano, Jerry Legaspi and Johann Generao as a non-profit Winnipeg charity in 2013. The charity is focused on providing safe events and programs to further contribute to the growing Winnipeg sneakerhead scene while promoting charity amongst our community and city.

Winnipeg’s Got Sole promotes shoe releases and events through their social networks.  They also give back to the community by collecting and donating gently used shoes to the less fortunate from their annual Winnipeg Sneaker Swap Expo.  In the past, they had also collected and donated gently worn winter jackets through their annual Winter Outerwear Drive.  Each year the non-profit charity also rewards a student athlete from their Jr. High School General Wolfe School with new shoes and gear for not only being great athletes but an inspiration to those around them.

To date, over 1700 pairs of used footwear and hundreds of winter coats and jackets have been donated to their partnered charities, Siloam Mission and Basketball Manitoba.
