The University of Winnipeg Athletics Department is now accepting applications for part-time, continuing Events Assistant positions, with up to 12 openings available.

The Events Assistant role supports the delivery of athletic and recreation events at the University of Winnipeg, including assisting the public, ushering, controlling facility access, selling tickets, handling admissions, supporting scorekeeping and timekeeping, operating audio/visual equipment, selling food and beverages, setting up event equipment, and assisting recreation and athletics staff as required.

This opportunity may be a strong fit for individuals interested in sport, event operations, game-day support, athletics administration, or those looking to gain hands-on experience in a university sport environment.

The position is classified as part-time, continuing, with hours ranging from 0 to 34 hours per week. The expected start date is August 5, 2026, and the hourly wage range is $16.48 to $17.14 per hour, plus 6% vacation pay.

Applicants should have high school completion or equivalent experience. Familiarity with recreation and sport activities, basic math skills, some knowledge of scorekeeping, strong communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and comfort handling and reconciling cash are considered important for the role.

Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be available for day, evening and/or weekend shifts. The role is conducted in person and may include physical duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds. Successful applicants must also provide clearance for the Child Abuse Registry and Police Information Check, with proof of initiation provided to Human Resources within seven days of the start date.
