Today on the Basketball Manitoba Podcast, we have Duane Whyte.
Duane dedicated over three decades to growing the game from the ground up in the Swan River region. At Swan Valley Regional Secondary School, his varsity boys teams captured Provincial AAA Championships in 1986, 1995, 1996, 2000, and 2001.
He didn’t just coach a team; he built an entire basketball community.
He organized coaching and referee clinics, hosted provincial championships, brought in high-level exhibition games, and helped develop generations of players, many of whom have gone on to become coaches themselves.
He’s also contributed to the game as an official, working provincial championships at both the high school and senior men’s levels.
Duane is an MHSAA Hall of Fame inductee and a Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame inductee.
