Providence Pilots Women’s Basketball has announced the commitment of former Junior Pilot Avonlea Dueck as the program’s first signing for the 2026–27 season.

Dueck, a familiar name within the Pilots system, returns to Providence following her development in the Junior Pilots program. Her commitment reflects the program’s continued emphasis on retaining and developing athletes within its system-based pathway.

“I am really excited to join the Providence Women’s basketball team because I know lots of the girls on the team and I think they are all really great people,” said Dueck. “I am also looking forward to joining a strong basketball program with good coaching where I can develop my basketball skills further.”

Head Coach Lara Dueck highlighted Avonlea’s competitive edge and all-around game.

“Avonlea loves the game of basketball and it shows in her work ethic and her dedication to the team,” said Coach Lara Dueck. “She is a fierce competitor who is willing to leave everything on the court to pull off the win. She is a strong shooter and rebounder, does not shy away from the physical aspect of the game, and takes pride in playing defence. She has excellent anticipation skills and keeps a very cool head in heated situations.”

Assistant Coach Kendall Perpall emphasized Dueck’s versatility and team-first mindset.

“Avonlea is a great team player with a strong work ethic,” said Perpall. “She consistently gives 100 percent effort, especially in winning 50/50 ball situations. Her ability to fill multiple roles to help the team succeed will make her a strong asset to the Providence Pilots. I’m excited to see how she continues to grow within our system.”

Dueck becomes the first announced recruit for the Pilots’ 2026–27 season, reinforcing Providence’s commitment to internal development and long-term program continuity.
