Basketball Manitoba is proud to support the second season of the Inner City Basketball League (ICBL), a free, inclusive basketball initiative serving youth across Winnipeg’s core communities. The 2026 season has expanded significantly, now involving 500 participants from 32 inner-city schools (up from 20 schools), and will run over 20 full game days between January 19 and March 26, 2026, at the Sport Manitoba Courts.
The ICBL delivers barrier-free access to sport by covering all costs associated with participation (transportation, uniforms, equipment, and facility use), ensuring that no child is left on the sidelines. The league promotes structured physical activity, skill development, and positive peer engagement in a safe and welcoming environment.
Over 50 teachers/coaches and youth officials contribute to the program’s delivery.
The ICBL is supported by a strong network of partners, including the Winnipeg School Division, Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association, Manitoba Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Council (MASRC), the Province of Manitoba, Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials, Zueike, and Basketball Manitoba.
