Basketball Manitoba has announced that it is now accepting applications for the 2026 Manitoba Provincial Team Program for the 17U and 15U male and female age group coaching positions.
The deadline for all coaching applications is Friday, December 12, 2025, at 5:00 pm.
Basketball Manitoba Provincial Team Program
Basketball Manitoba runs provincial teams annually, providing elite athletes a unique opportunity to develop skills through high-quality summer practices and a challenging competition schedule. Coaches can either apply as a 'team' or individually.
Applications for the 17U and 15U teams are for a one-year commitment (2026 summer). The successful candidates will be the coaching staff for the 2026 Canada Basketball National Championships, scheduled for Quebec (female) and Saskatchewan (male) in early August 2026.

Please note that the selection of successful candidates will not necessarily be limited to those who apply. Interviews will take place in the late December /early January range. We thank all the interested applicants; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
- Head Coach and Assistant Coach (players born in 2009 or later)
- Head Coach and Assistant Coach (players born in 2009 or later)
- Head Coach and Assistant Coach (players born in 2011 or later)

PROVINCIAL TEAM MODEL FOR 2026:
- All tryouts for the 15U & 17U programs will be held in late May 2026. A pre-tryout identification camp will be held in Brandon, with another location to be determined in the spring.
- Up to 15 players per age group will be selected (12 roster players and 3 practice players). Team training will run from June to July until the National Championships in early August.
- The program will compete in various training and exhibition games leading to the National Championships.
- A 12-person roster and the coaching staff will represent Manitoba at the National Championships in Quebec (female) and Saskatchewan (male).
- Additional details on the program will be announced later this winter.
Coaching Criteria—As set by Canada Basketball, successful candidates will have the opportunity and support of Basketball Manitoba to complete their coaching courses and certification.
17U and 15U Male and Female Teams
- Head Coach = NCCP Train to Compete Certified by year 3 of their involvement in the program (must be "in-training" in year 1, "trained" by year 2 and "certified" by year 3) AND a minimum of 5 years of experience as a basketball head coach or equivalent experience.
- Assistant Coach = NCCP Train to Compete Certified by year 3 of their involvement in the program (must be "in-training" in year 1, "trained" by year 2 and "certified" by year 3) AND a minimum of 5 years of experience as a basketball head coach or equivalent experience. AND a minimum of 3 years of experience as a basketball head or assistant coach or equivalent experience.

Other Notes:
- Coaches can apply as a 'team' or individually as head coaches, assistant coaches, or managers to be partnered with other successful candidates. Basketball Manitoba strongly recommends that coaches apply as a "team of coaches."
- Male Head Coaches of female teams must have a female Assistant Coach or Manager, and female Head Coaches of male teams must have a male Assistant Coach or Manager.
- All selected coaches must have completed the Sport Manitoba Respect in Sport online program within the last 5 years.
- All coaches must complete the Safe Sport online training administered under the Coaching Association of Canada.
- All selected coaches will undergo a Canadian Police Records Check as part of the hiring process with Basketball Manitoba within the last three years.
- Basketball Manitoba will provide the successful coaches in the program with the required levels of NCCP certification to meet the Canada Basketball National Championships requirements.
