L’équipe féminine, dirigée par Lyes Mahdi Aknouche, a terminé le tournoi à la 6ᵉ place au classement général. Le groupe a démontré une forte cohésion et une belle combativité tout au long de la compétition. L’équipe comprenait Ashley Duhamel, Cassie Grijalva, Danika Steeves, Liz Sharp et Mia Hambleton.
« On a vraiment fait des choses dont on peut être fières », a partagé Liz Sharp. « On a continué à croire en nous, même quand c’était difficile… On a tissé des liens entre nous qui vont durer. »
Du côté masculin, l’équipe dirigée par Matthew Trudeau a connu un excellent parcours et a remporté la médaille de bronze. Le groupe était composé de Félix Beaudry, Jack Sinnock, Osa Emokpae, Tristan Gibbons et Yvan Turenne. Ce podium témoigne du travail acharné, de l’esprit d’équipe et du talent collectif démontrés tout au long du tournoi.
Manitoba Captures Bronze in Men’s 3x3; Women Finish 6th Overall at Canadian Francophonie Games
Laval, QC – Manitoba’s 3x3 basketball teams closed out their runs at the 2025 Canadian Francophonie Games with strong efforts and standout performances.
The women’s team, coached by Lyes Mahdi Aknouche, earned a 6th place overall finish, showing resilience and unity throughout the tournament. The roster included Ashley Duhamel, Cassie Grijalva, Danika Steeves, Liz Sharp, and Mia Hambleton.
“I think we definitely did some things to be proud of,” said Liz Sharp. “We kept moving forward and believing in ourselves, even when things were tough. We worked as a team, and what’s more, we built bonds between us that I know will last.”
The men’s team, guided by head coach Matthew Trudeau, delivered a strong tournament run and captured the bronze medal. Team members included Félix Beaudry, Jack Sinnock, Osa Emokpae, Tristan Gibbons, and Yvan Turenne. Their podium finish capped off a week of hard work, chemistry, and competitive spirit representing Manitoba on the national stage.
