Wesmen Athletics and Wesmen women's basketball have announced a new multisport summer camp for boys and girls.

The five-day, full-day camp is open to youth 11 to 14 years of age and will feature basketball instruction in the morning followed by multi-sport activities in the afternoon. The camp will be led by experienced U Sports student-athletes from our women’s basketball team along with head coach Alyssa Cox.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with a half-hour window for supervised drop-off and pick-up at the Duckworth Centre.

The basketball portion of the camp will include drills in ball-handling, shooting, passing, 1-on-1 moves, and decision-making in 3-on-3, 4-on-4, and 5-on-5 game situations. Athletes will spend a portion of their time daily on live scrimmages to begin implementing what they learn.

This camp is a great chance for athletes with an interest in basketball to spend their mornings developing their on-court skills, and their afternoons experiencing the benefits of playing multiple sports.

Learning and participating in a variety of activities helps children develop athleticism, prevent injuries, and practise new skills and strategies, all of which can help them excel in their chosen sport over time and keep sport fun.
