Basketball Manitoba and the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame are saddened to report the passing of Morley Rypp

Morley was a member of the storied Winnipeg Stellars teams of the early 1950s. The Stellars won the National Junior Championship in 1950 and 1951 and were inducted into both the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame (1983 and 1984) and the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame (1995)

The teams played out of the old Stella Mission in Winnipeg's North End, were coached by legendary Martin Terry and displayed unique team skills and sportsmanship in an era when junior basketball was some of the best played.

He was predeceased by his wife Shirley and brother, Meyer. He is survived by his children, Howie (Beatriz) and Robyn (Arnie), plus five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, in addition to Stellar teammates, Dick Bevan, Gordie Johnson and Paul Granovsky.

Our sincere sympathies go out to Morley's family and friends. We will all miss his smile and cheery disposition.

Morley was a huge supporter of our Basketball Hall of Fame. An indication of this is that he has designated any donations in his name be made to our Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum. Information can be found at the following link: https://www.mbhof.com/p/donate.html
