The Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame and Basketball Manitoba are very sad to announce the passing of Ab Glowicki. Ab was a member of the famous Winnipeg Stellars Junior Men's teams of the early 1950s, winners of two consecutive National Junior Men's Championships in 1950 and 1951.

This era was when junior basketball was highly competitive and showcased some of the best basketball played in Canada. The many stories of the team travelling coast-to-coast by railway in those years live on and have been chronicled in many formats. They were coached by the legendary Martin Terry and played out of the Stella Mission in Winnipeg's North End.   The Stellars were inducted into both the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame (1983) and the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame (1995).

Ab died in Victoria on December 20 at age 90 and leaves behind his wife, Joan, five children, 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Our most sincere condolences go out to his entire family.
