This past weekend, 335 young basketball players took the court at the Sport Manitoba Courts for the first time since 2019, all aiming for a position with one of Manitoba's Provincial Basketball Teams this summer.  The record crowd of athletes in attendance allowed the Provincial Team Coaching Staff to evaluate the top athletes at the 18U, 17U and 15U levels.

In all, 72 athletes along with 2-3 practice players per team will be selected from those chosen to continue to the final steps to represent Manitoba on one of the six teams.  An overview of the program over the next 2 months includes...

  • 15U, 17U, & 18U Male & Female Teams - Prairie Cup vs Team Sask (Brandon) July 3
  • 15U, 17U & 18U Female Teams - Mill City Invitational (Minneapolis, MN) July 5-8
  • 15U, 17U, & 18U Male Teams - Summer Slam (Sioux Falls, SD) July 7-10
  • 15U, 17U, & 18U Male Teams - D1 Summer Classic (Minneapolis, MN) July 14-17
  • 15U, 17U & 18U Female Teams - North Tartan Meltdown (Minneapolis, MN) July 19-22
  • 15U & 17U Male - Canada Basketball National Championships (Edmonton, AB) July 31-Aug 7
  • 15U & 17U Female - Canada Basketball National Championships (Sherbrooke, QC) July 31-Aug 7
  • 18U Male & Female - Canada Summer Games (Niagara Falls, Ontario) Aug 5-14.
