Nine-year old Sophie Terasaki is battling a form of bone cancer called osteosarcoma -- the same type that the legendary Terry Fox had.
The BU men's basketball team is looking to help by hosting a co-ed camp at the Healthy Living Centre on Sunday, August 25. Participants can attend for free, but are encouraged to donate in support of Sophie's family.
"I read Sophie's story on her GoFundMe page and it hit home for me," said men's coach Gil Cheung. "I have two children of my own and I cannot imagine what her family is going through. Our community always comes together like no other when someone needs assistance. We will be thinking of Sophie with each shot we take."
The camp runs 10am-1pm at the HLC on Sunday and is open for athletes in grades 2-12.
