Red River College invites applications for Head Coach, Rebels Men’s Basketball program, competing in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC). This is a part-time position in our Athletics and Recreation Services department, commencing July 2015 through June 2015. The MCAC competitive basketball season starts in late October, with tryouts in early September and finishes at the end of February.

Reporting to the Manager, Athletics and Recreation Services, the Head Coach oversees the organization, administration, and staffing of the Rebels Men’s Basketball program. Responsible for all aspects of the collegiate Men’s Basketball program from planning, to implementation and evaluation, the coach assumes a key role in the recruitment of student-athletes, team selection, practice and in-season planning/scheduling.
Qualifications include:

  • Must have or complete within agreed upon time frame; Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check and Respect in Sport certification, minimum Level 1 or Learn to Train certification.
  • Previous experience coaching post-secondary basketball athletes, or coaching basketball athletes at least sixteen years of age or older.
  • Previous experience with physical conditioning programs for the sport of basketball.
  • The ability to help recruit student-athletes and conduct basketball selection camps and ID camps.

Strong communication, organizational, administrative, and management skills are required, as well as significant leadership and academic experience.

A $7000 - $8000 honourarium will be offered for this position depending upon qualifications
