Sport Manitoba and Coaching Manitoba in partnership with Sport Medicine & Science Council of Manitoba have announced a FREE professional development workshop for coaches on the topic of sleep and its role with your athlete.

COMMUNITY COACHES: 
In this session, Dr. Samuels of the Centre for Sleep and Human Performance, will discuss the importance of quality sleep in an athlete’s development, performance and recovery.  Gathering an understanding of the key role sleep plays in those areas and the factors that contribute to poor sleep will help individuals better manage sleep habits to allow the athlete to maximize their training, improve performances as well as overall quality of life

Date: Thursday March 5th, 2015
Location: Sport for Life Centre – Conference Room
Time:  7:00 pm – 9:00 pm


HIGH PERFORMANCE COACHES: 
“The Sleep Factor” – In this session, Dr. Samuels of the Centre for Sleep and Human Performance, will focus on the importance of sleep in your athletes overall performance.  Areas of emphasis will be on:

  • Managing sleep when changing time zones
  • Changes in the sleep environment (hotels, dorms, two people to a room, etc)  when travelling for training camps or competition
  • Arousal levels effect on sleep before major competition
