    • The National Federation of State High School Associations brings you this informative video beginning with pre-game preparations, floor positioning and basic hand mechanics. A very thorough production, this tape covers all areas of responsibility of today's official.  Although the rules go through minor changes each year, this tape is an excellent toll for all officials and is to be used as a companion with the Federation Rule Books.

    • This referee instructional tape is hosted by Hank Nichols, National Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officiating, and includes: blocking and charging, screening, the principle of verticality and post play.  Examples and situations are highlighted which will assist any level of official.

    • This video offers the basic fundamental rules pertaining to basketball by using numerous examples and situations.  Based on the FIBA (International) rule system, the tape covers all the rules regarding: pivoting, shooting, dribbling, and defines "what is a foul?".  Although somewhat dated, this tape can serve as an informative source for a better understanding of the rules.

    • This tape goes into the rules governing the proper techniques of establishing a pivot foot, pivot foot movement, starting a dribble, passing & shooting, the jump stop and other aspects of travelling.  Each portion is broken down with demonstrations of game situations, slowed down giving you a number of examples.  This video is an excellent accessory with the National Federation Rule Book.

    • This video shows different scenes including the block-charge, airborne shooter, and verticality situations taken from the National Federation Rule Book.  A number of examples and situations are shown to clarify rule violations to shown to assist referees, coaches and players with proper rulings.  Featured are both post and guard play and what exactly is and isn't a charge.  This video is an excellent accessory with the National Federation Rule Book.

    • This National Federation production leads you step-by-step through the proper ways to administrate a basketball game.  It begins with the 6 general rules that an o > fficial must follow in order to be an effective referee.  From there, the tape explains the pre-game conference, the jump-ball situation, floor coverage, boundary line coverage, calling fouls, administrating free throws, handling time outs, what to do between quarters and at half time, and dealing with substitutions.  This is an excellent production to be used as an accessory with the National Federation rule books.

    • This official publication of the NCAA focuses on a variety of important points of emphasis and officiating concerns.  Topics such as “off-the-ball contact”, “5-seconds closely guarded”, “blocking / charging”, hand-checking and floor mechanics are explained in-depth with a number of game situations slowed down to show the proper call.  The finishes with a “You Make the Call” segment featuring the carry ball, intentional fouls, travelling, post-play, the principle of verticality, goal tending, and others.  An excellent review of the present NCAA basketball rules as followed by CIAU Men in Canada.

    • This NCAA production explains some of the rule changes and revisions that were implemented for the 1997-98 NCAA season.  Filmed at the annual rules meeting in Dallas, Texas, the video shows the process that rules changes and rule revisions go through before making it to the stage of implementation.

    • This internationally produced video explains a number of the different concepts and rules of the international game.  The tape details rules on traveling, post play, the block / charge, verticality, screening, act of shooting, rebounding, hand checking, and intentional fouls.  The tape offers a number of examples and explanations to the proper rule interpretations on the international system.

    • This video produced by FIBA explains the major and minor rule changes that have taken effect in 1998.  Areas that are emphasized are court size, 30 second clock, spectators, jump balls, fouling out, minor officials, player’s equipment, captain’s duties, indicating starters, clock stoppage, clock violations, time outs, injury to officials, overtime, live / dead ball situations, 3 point field goal attempts, back over centre, goaltending, physical contact, verticality, hand checking, double and technical fouls, fighting, free throws, correctable errors, and hand signals.  This is an excellent production detailing the FIBA rule system.
