The University of Manitoba is seeking basketball players between the ages of 10 and 14 to participate in a strength development study.  The purpose of the study is to see if muscle strength and power in children can be measured in the same way on different test days, and to see whether girls and boys are different in their muscle strength and power.  For details...

The study is looking for girls and boys who:

  1. Are between 10 and 14 years of age

  2. Have at least one year experience playing on a club or provincial level team in sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics or any other field or court sport

  3. Are NOT currently doing a weight training program

Testing involves coming to the University of Manitoba two times, one week apart, for about 2 hours each time. Your leg strength will be tested by pushing and pulling against a machine called a Biodex.
