The 2nd UM Bannatyne Campus Hoops Challenge is being held in conjunction with Sneaker Day, Thursday June 16, from 10am to 1pm, in the Brodie Centre atrium. Come out and try your luck at shooting free throws with proceeds going to Basketballs for Inner City Kids. Each basket will earn you a ticket for the Sneaker Day prize draw. Three shots for $2, ten for $5 (warm-up shots free!). Basketballs for Inner City Kids is a totally volunteer-run project, which since its inception in 2006 has donated over 1,500 basketballs to inner city kids. This year, the target is to give a basketball to each graduating Grade 6 student at all twelve K-6 schools in the inner city – over 500 basketballs in all! To do this, we need to raise approx $3,500.
New to this year’s Bannatyne Hoops Challenge is the “Team Shoot-Out”, where four or more members of a UM or HSC unit/lab/department can compete by pooling their shots. The team with the best overall free throw percentage will win a prize, a trophy and bragging rights for the year!
