Basketball Manitoba is proud to announce that the Winnipeg team which won the open men's NBA Jam Session held at the Forks in September finished second overall at the Jam Session National Championships held in Toronto over the weekend. The Winnipeg team's members included Graham Bodnar, Derrek Shore and Joel Wiebe (shown in black jerseys below in picture 1). The trio won the open men's championship in Winnipeg and represented the city at the national event and took on teams from Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Halifax and the eventual champions from Montreal. To advance to the finals, Winnipeg defeated Toronto 16-11 and fell to Montreal 16-8 in the national final. The games were held in the Toronto Raptors Training Facility in the Air Canada Centre with the final occurring at the halftime of the Raptors / Phoenix Suns game. Congratulation to Graham, Derrek and Joel for representing us so well! NBA Jam Session will return to Winnipeg in 2011 with more information to be announced next spring.
