The JRB Basketball Club has announced details on its program for the
2010/2011 JRB sessions. JRB is going into its 10th season which makes it
the longest running female basketball training program in the province.
From the beginning, the philosophy of the JRB program has been to
concentrate on teaching young female athletes the fundamental basketball
skills they will require to maximize their potential on the court.  The
JRB measurement of success is the development of the skills of
individual players and their constant improvement.  For details...

The fall program consists of weekly training sessions where the athletes rotate through a series of coaching centers focussing on different skill areas. This year we will also be introducing a new concept for the fall JRB program. There will  be several weekend training camps this fall, which will provide an intensive training experience where athletes will have the opportunity to train with JRB athletes from rural Manitoba. There will also be an opportunity for the athletes to play on a JRB team in a tournament(s) before the Christmas break.

The spring session will continue to emphasize individual skill development but will add a greater emphasis on teaching team play. The athletes will play in several tournaments in Winnipeg and in the United States. The competition at the American tournaments is generally at a high level and provides a rigorous challenge for the JRB teams. Again, the emphasis is on development, hard work and improvement.

The fall sessions are organized so that athletes are able to play on a WMBA or Rising Stars team trying to minimize conflicts with game times as much as possible. The spring session has a more intensive training schedule which begins after all school basketball is completed.
