Basketball Manitoba is pleased to share the news that Ken Galanchuk (MBHOF Class of '84) will be inducted into the Manitoba Sport Hall of Fame this November as part of the Class of 2010.  Ken began his basketball career in the 1950’s at Isaac Newton and Sisler High School before a stellar career with the University of Manitoba Bisons. He played for IPAC Buffaloes, Lethbridge Nationals, and St. Andrew’s Super Saints for the Canadian Senior Title winning it in 1963. In 1967, at the first Canada Winter Games held in Quebec City, Galanchuk helped Manitoba win the silver medal. He played
for Canada’s national team in 1962 and ’63 including the Pan Am Games in Sao Paulo,
Brazil and the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  For full details...

The 2010 Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame Inductees include a legendary Blue Bomber lineman, our province’s most prolific female golfer, Grey Cup national and provincial champions, and sport builders (including the founder of the Legion Athletic Sport Camps.) All recipients have been integral in shapingManitoba’s sport community.



On November 6, 2010, four athletes, two builders and two teams will be inducted into the

Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame at the 31st Annual Induction Ceremonies.




“These eight recipients join an exclusive group of Manitoba’s finest in sport,” says Don Pincock, President of the Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors. “We strive to preserve,celebrate and showcase the history and heritage of sport excellence and achievement and these six individuals and two teams have earned their place in Manitoba’s sporthistory.”




The 2010 inductees are:



  • Kenneth J. GALANCHUK Basketball Athlete

  • Jo-Ann LINDSAY Golf Athlete

  • Shane MOFFATT Baseball/Hockey Athlete

  • Christine O’CONNOR Builder Soccer

  • George PHILLIPS Builder All Round

  • *Frank RIGNEY Athlete Football

  • 1966-67 Team Manitoba

  • Centennial Canoe Team Team Paddling

  • 1984 Winnipeg Blue Bombers Team Football

Ken GALANCHUK Basketball/Athlete:
