The Harper government’s budget provides new funding of $31 million over the next two years towards sport and physical activity programs for all Canadians. Funding commitments to Own the Podium, ParticipAction, Canadian Paralympic Committee and Special Olympics Canada will serve to support Canadian athletes and promote participation in sport and physical activity at the community level.

“This is not only an investment in sport performance on the international scene, but also an investment in a healthier, more active Canada,” says Randy Anderson, CSCM General Manager.

Anderson notes the funding will support the training and competition for winter and summer high performance athletes, increase Canada’s ability to attract and retain world-class coaches and enhance opportunities for the application of state-of-the-art sport science in support of Canada’s athletes competing on the world stage.

“The investment in sport excellence affords the Canadian sport system the opportunity to move forward and continue to see the performance results experienced at the 2010 Olympic Games and those yet to come at the Paralympic Games ,” he adds.

CSCM, founded in 1997, is a proud member of the Canadian Sport Centre network. The organization is committed to supporting high performance athletes and coaches in their pursuit of podium performances in national and international competitions.
