Basketball Manitoba along with other members of the basketball community honored Maureen Orchard at the start of the Basketball Manitoba Annual General Meeting on Saturday December 8 at Sport Manitoba.  Maureen has served in a variety of capacities on the Basketball Manitoba Board of Directors since 1967 and officially stepped down at the AGM.  Sport Manitoba President and CEO Jeff Hnatiuk was on hand to present Maureen with the Order of Sport Excellence in recognition of this accomplishment.

Over her time involved in basketball, Maureen has been heavily involved with the Senior Women's Leagues, as a referee, coach and mainly as a volunteer administrator.  She was involved in both Winnipeg Pan Am Games in 1967 and again in 1999 where she was the Sport Chair for basketball at the games.  Maureen served on dozens of other basketball and sport related Boards and Committees including the Manitoba Sport Federation.  She has and to this day continues to be very involved in wheelchair basketball both locally and internationally.  She has been the President of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation since 2002.

Basketball Manitoba and the entire basketball community would like to thank and congratulate Maureen on an outstanding career with the sport and wish her and her family nothing but the best!  Thank you!!
