The Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the 2007 induction class who will be officially inducted into the Hall this October.  The official induction ceremony will take place on
Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Winnipeg. The athletes, builders and teams being inducted include...



ATHLETES :



  • Sandra Carroll – University of Winnipeg Wesmen, 4-Time All-Canadian 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95 ; 3-Time CIS National Player of the Year 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95 ; CIS Championship MVP 1993-94 and 1994-95 

  • Sandra Hamilton – Brandon University Bobcats, 2-Time All-Canadian 1991-92 and 1992-93

  • Jeff Foreman – University of Winnipeg Wesmen, 3-Time All-Canadian 1991-92, 1992-93 and 1993-94 ; CIS National Player of the Year 1993-94 ; Canadian National Team member 

  • Eric Bridgeland – University of Manitoba Bisons, 3-Time All-Canadian 1990-91, 1991-92 and 1992-93 ; Canadian National Team member ;  Winnipeg Thunder



  

BUILDERS :



  • Duane Whyte – 33 years Varsity Boys Coach Swan Valley Regional School ; five MHSAA provincial championships ; four-time MBCA Coach of the Year

  • Lorna Robertson – 30 years Coach Hamiota Collegiate ; eight MHSAA provincial championships ; YWCA Woman of Distinction Award ; four-time MBCA Coach of the Year ;Mike Spack Award in 1997          

  • Jerry Hemmings – 29 years Coach Brandon University Bobcats ; four CIS national championships ; winningest coach in CIS history (734 wins) ; 16 consecutive CIS National Tournaments ; CIS Coach of the Year ; National Team Assistant Coach

  • Harv-Al Sportswear (Harvey Lipkin and Al Rimer) – longtime supporters and sponsors of amateur basketball (senior, junior, and high school)



  

TEAMS : 



  • University of Winnipeg Wesmen Women 1992-93, 1993-94, and 1994-95 – 3-Time CIS National Champions ; 88 consecutive wins (North American women’s record) ; Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Team of the Century

  • Hamiota Collegiate Varsity Girls 1986-87, 1987-88, 1989-90, 1990-91, 1991-92, 1992-93 and 1993-94 – MHSAA Provincial ‘A’ Champions seven times in eight years
