Sport Manitoba is pleased to announce that Krystal Schouten has been named one of the recipients of the 'Women to Watch' Grant.



Krystal is a 15-year old, 6’ 2” basketball player who is involved in the following programs: Centre for Performance, Junior Wesmen, Take Me On, River East School Junior Varsity Team and the River East School Varsity Team practice team.



Krystal was also on the provincial team in 2006. She is an honor roll student and has been nominated Valedictorian in both Grades 6 and 9. She plans on becoming a veterinarian and playing basketball throughout high school and university.



Krystal will be using her grant money to assist with training fees.




Women to Watch



Sport Manitoba provides the leadership for initiatives that increase
and enhance opportunities for participation by women in sport.A major initiative is the Women to Watch Grant Program.



Working
in partnership with Provincial Sport Organizations and Coaching
Manitoba, Sport Manitoba provides a monthly grant of $500 to a
female athlete, team, official or volunteer to assist them in
enhancing their women in sport career.



A $500 monthly grant is also awarded to a female coach to assist
them in further developing the skills necessary to attain a higher
level of coaching or increased level of coaching experience.
