WINNIPEG, MB — Manitoba basketball continues to make its mark on the international stage as former University of Manitoba Bisons standout and current Winnipeg Sea Bears guard Mason Kraus has signed his first overseas professional basketball contract with EPG Baskets Koblenz in Germany for the 2026–27 season.
Kraus joins one of Germany's respected professional clubs after establishing himself as one of the most accomplished players in recent Manitoba Bisons history. His signing represents the next step in a basketball journey built on consistent improvement, elite defensive play, and leadership at every level.
A four-time Canada West All-Star, Kraus became just the eighth player in Manitoba Bisons men's basketball history to earn conference all-star recognition in four different seasons. His accolades include All-Rookie Team honours in 2022, Third Team All-Star selections in 2023 and 2026, and First Team All-Star honours in 2025.
Over his U SPORTS career, the Winnipeg product averaged 13.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and over 31 minutes per game, developing into one of the conference's premier two-way guards. During his final university season in 2025–26, Kraus scored a season-high 29 points against Mount Royal on January 10 and grabbed 10 rebounds against Brandon on February 12, showcasing the versatility that has become his trademark.
Kraus has gained valuable professional experience close to home with the Winnipeg Sea Bears after being selected in the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League U SPORTS Draft. Over two seasons with the club, he appeared in 20 CEBL games, providing energy, defensive intensity, and valuable depth while continuing his development alongside professional teammates.
His performance with the Sea Bears earned praise from Head Coach and General Manager Mike Raimbault.
"Mason had a notable collegiate career and has shown he can defend and disrupt players at multiple positions," said Raimbault. "We're excited to support him as he takes the next step into his professional career."
Beyond the traditional five-on-five game, Kraus has also represented Canada internationally, earning selection to Canada's men's team for the 2025 FIBA U23 3x3 Nations League, further demonstrating his versatility and ability to compete at the highest levels.
Kraus now joins EPG Baskets Koblenz, where he will begin the next chapter of his career in one of Europe's strongest basketball nations. Germany has become a premier destination for Canadian players looking to establish themselves professionally, offering high-level competition and outstanding player development opportunities.
