Canada West has announced that Winnipeg Wesmen head coach Mike Raimbault has been named the 2025-26 Canada West Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year, recognizing another high-level season for one of the conference’s most consistent programs.

Raimbault, in his 15th season leading the Wesmen, guided Winnipeg to a second straight 16-win Canada West campaign and a second straight 24-win season overall. Under his leadership, the Wesmen ranked among the top teams nationally in key performance areas, including assists per game, field goal percentage, and net efficiency. Over the past four seasons, Winnipeg’s 62 Canada West wins rank second in the conference.

Canada West has announced Brandon Bobcats guard Munroop Gill as the 2025-26 Rookie of the Year after a standout first season. Gill averaged 17.9 points per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and over 40 percent from three-point range, placing him among the conference leaders in multiple scoring categories.

The full Canada West men’s basketball major award list for 2025-26 includes:

  • Player of the Year: Ethan Boag, Victoria Vikes
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Geoffrey James, Victoria Vikes
  • Rookie of the Year: Munroop Gill, Brandon Bobcats
  • Student-Athlete Community Service Award: Thomas Olsen, Thompson Rivers WolfPack
  • Coach of the Year: Mike Raimbault, Winnipeg Wesmen

The Canada West Men's Final is set for Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, with Victoria hosting UBC.
