Canada West has announced seeding and schedule details for the 2026 men’s and women’s basketball playoffs, with Manitoba’s three university programs – the University of Winnipeg Wesmen, University of Manitoba Bisons, and Brandon University Bobcats – all earning postseason berths and playing key roles across both brackets.

The 2026 Canada West postseason begins with play-in and quarterfinal games from February 12–15, followed by semifinals on February 20–21. Medal round games will be contested February 27–28. All playoff games are single elimination, with play-in and quarterfinal contests hosted by the top four seeds in each bracket. Every game will be streamed live on CanadaWest.TV – Powered by BioSteel.

Women’s Playoffs: Manitoba Representation in Regina and Langley

On the women’s side, both the Manitoba Bisons and Brandon Bobcats have qualified for postseason play.

The Brandon University Bobcats enter as the Prairie 7 seed and will open play on Friday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m. CST at the University of Regina, facing the Pacific 3 seed UBC Okanagan. With a win, Brandon would advance to a Saturday evening matchup against the University of Regina.

The University of Manitoba Bisons, seeded Prairie 6, will travel west to Trinity Western University for their opening-round matchup. Manitoba faces the Prairie 3 seed University of Calgary on Friday, February 13 at 12:00 p.m. PST, with the winner moving on to face Trinity Western on Saturday night.

Men’s Playoffs: Winnipeg Hosting, Manitoba Matchup, Brandon on the Road

The men’s bracket features all three Manitoba programs, highlighted by a top seed and a home playoff site in Winnipeg.

The University of Winnipeg Wesmen finished the regular season as the Prairie 1 seed and will host a quarterfinal game at the Duckworth Centre. Winnipeg will face the winner of the play-in matchup between the University of Calgary and Thompson Rivers University, with that quarterfinal scheduled for Saturday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. CST.

The University of Manitoba Bisons earned the Prairie 3 seed and will host a play-in game at the University of British Columbia. Manitoba will face the Brandon University Bobcats on Thursday, February 12 at 5:00 p.m. PST in an all-Manitoba opening-round matchup. The winner advances to face UBC the following day.

Brandon University enters the men’s playoffs as the Prairie 7 seed, qualifying both its men’s and women’s teams for the 2026 Canada West postseason.

With the Wesmen, Bisons, and Bobcats all competing across the men’s and women’s brackets, the province will once again be strongly represented as the Canada West playoffs get underway.
